In October 2018, DEFA, on behalf of ETYFA, published the tender for the construction of LNG import infrastructure at Vasilikos. The tender has been awarded to the successful tenderer, the international consortium with China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co Ltd, METRON S.A., Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd and Wilhelmsen Ship Management Limited). The relevant contract was signed on 13 December 2019.

The construction works that are expected to be completed, consist of the following:

• Floating import, storage and regasification of LNG unit (FSRU).
• Jetty to which the floating unit will be permanently attached as well as the mooring facilities.
• Pipeline on the jetty and unloading arms.
• Overland pipeline up to the border of the Vasilikos Power Station.
• Ground NG installations (NG metering and regulation station) at the NG delivery point and NG storage system in order to increase inertia for supply safety (buffer).I
